There is Always Something

It's Monday here and lets just say Fall is starting to set in. We had beautiful weather all weekend, highs in the 80 even and now Doom and Gloom. But I must admit that Fall is one of my favorite seasons up here. All the oranges, reds and yellows. Lets not forget about the great soups and yummy breads that go with it. It's almost makes you forget about the real world, and work and bills just for a split second. Then BAM back to reality. Our weekend was eventful. Friday we worked and had some friends over for dinner that was fabulous. Saturday I had a short day at the salon, my husband didn't have to work so I made it a short one to spend time with him. Then Saturday evening we went to the Carron's for a BBQ. It was fun to chat with the ladies that I don't get to see the often and Chris was able to partake in men watching football. It was great. Sunday we had a lazy morning, Chris went to the local pub to watch his boys play, the Eagles. One of my dear friends and I have started a tradition of her coming over on Sunday mornings for Breakfast and lazy afternoon. Which then rolls into supper time. But instead of we all went out to my parents for an end of the summer BBQ of oysters, hamburgers and hot dogs. It was about 9 or so when we rolled home.

But here is my question of the past weekend: How many more times do I have to hear "I didn't like it, it tastes funny?" Where am I going with this one, oh let me tell you.

So my step son who is almost 16 just in case anyone who forgot, doesn't like to nourish his body. What do I mean by that you ask? He won't eat unless it is made for him! Or he won't eat it unless it's the right brand, or the flavor he likes. You know what I have to say to that, when he starts buying his own stuff all that will change. I literally watched him last Saturday, after I put all of the taco stuff away from lunch, walk to the refrigerator open it pull out the flour tortilla examine it and after deciding it was to much effort to make his own taco, put it away. Then on Sunday the only reason why I didn't hear "Oh my head hurts" was cause I cooked breakfast for my friends that come over every Sunday and then we all wanted hamburgers so Burger King came in handy and then we went to my parents for supper. Are you all seeing what I am getting at. He, on Sunday didn't have to put the thought process behind making himself something to eat, even as simple as heating up the taco stuff and eating it. So on Sunday we had a late lunch and he didn't want to eat supper. We told him he needed to eat a little something, but nope he didn't want to. But when it came time for desert he was all over it. I wasn't paying attention cause if I had he wouldn't have gotten desert without eating a little supper first. So everyone was dished out this awesome Banana Nut Cake my mom makes with frosting on it. All the kids had gone back outside to play and when I strolled into the kitchen there was a full serving of cake with only the frosting eaten off of it. I was like no freakn way. My dad was in there with me and I asked him if it was his, he said no. I couldn't believe it. So I walked outside and asked Christopher" Hey is that your cake with the frosting eaten off it?" He said "Yes" I was like OK " Why didn't you eat it?" Here are the famous words. "I didn't like it, it taste funny" I was so mad. Why you ask? He does that all the time. Instead of asking what it was, or could I try just a bite to see if I will like it, he always takes a full serving and then wastes it. All because he thought it taste funny. Here is the go getter to top it all off. He didn't like it cause it had nuts in it and before we even got close to having desert, my friend that was there with us, they both walked by it, looked at it, smelled it and he said to her "That has nuts in it and I don't like nuts in my food, I won't eat it" and he still took a big piece. What the heck!! His dad made him come up stairs and eat it. You don't take desert to just eat the frosting, knowing that it has nuts in it and you won't like it. I am so at my wits end with this one. It bugs me to no end that he won't eat something cause it's not name brand, don't get me wrong I know that some off brand stuff can taste funny and I won't buy those things but the stuff I do get, come on. I even try to disguise it by putting it in different a container, and if it taste funny to his palate it sits and goes bad and gets thrown out. HELP!

Let him starve! And then when CPS shows up, show them all the food in your house that's available that he CHOOSES not to eat!
